Book recommendations?

Hi all. I am new to the hobby and just love all the information I have gleaned from reading the posts here. I am sponge (pun intended) for knowledge and want to learn more.
I have purchased the saltwater fish for dummies book, but find that book way too basic now. I am looking for a good intermediate aquarist book...one that has illustrations and will be more of a reference that i can refer back to as I progress in this hobby. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!!

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Fenner is good
Marine Fishes by Scott Michael is a good book too about species
Aquarium Corals, Selection, Husbandry and natural History by Eric Borneman is good if you are interested in corals
Good luck...ane WELCOME to the hobby and SWF

Yep, the above three are my favorites as well, specifically the Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Fenner. All good selections though.

These will help you to choose what fish and coral to get, and what gets along with what...I find them very helpful.

This is excellent advice, don't get me wrong...BUT
After reading a few books (like the ones that have been suggested here
) I have come to the conclusion that ALL the books regarding this hobby that I have found at the library are not really worth the read for new hobbyists.
However your library may be different.
You see, these books weren't "bad" but rather these books were outdated. They were still worthwhile to read, but not a good place to start. I just liked reading them to see how the hobby has changed. Besides that, there were a lot of good things to explain how a fish utilizes oxygen in the water, stuff about osmosis and the difference between saltwater and freshwater fish, etc. This information is incredibly interesting to read, but I find that sometimes it is best to discover how to do something before you discover why.
Definitely check out your library, but be wary of the date on the book. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained from outdated books, but a lot of the ideas have been changed for the better since.
Flower, it is good that you provided pictures, I like it.
Also, Annie one more thing. Be sure to pay close attention to the authors when/if you buy these books.

The internet is the most up to date source on saltwater fish keeping, but it is also the most flawed.
When you read a book, you generally get full, straight, valuable information. When you use the internet, you have to dig a little more for valuable information.
But digging is fun.
