I belive it is related to recent increases in fuel...makes sense to me...everything else is going up to adjust for insane fuel prices!
The big questions are"how long will fuel prices remain elevated?"...and "if we remove the corporate lovin' Republicans from office will fuel prices stabalise?"...and "just how damn much profit do the corporations intend to gouge us for?"
Sure there are reasons upon reason for the recent price in fuels...but I believe the basic motivation is GREED....

not to start a political discussion but: both the democrats and rebublicans are corporate loving, and we the people are always getting the high hard one. the big corporations oil, food conglomerates, will always have more say in washington then the people untill we elect people on merit and ability rather then party. i'll end my banter before i get carried away. i just hate both parties equaly.

I don't understand the lobby against corporations. Corporations are not these evil stand alone entities. They are owned by common people. If you own stock, Mutual Funds, etc. then you're lobbying against yourself as a part owner of corporations.
It just seems like bizzare behavior to be against your employer and/or corporations you yourself own.

I'm with Bang Guy. Corporations employ lots of people, and make huge $ contributions to charitable and educational organizations. Even the grossly overpaid management contributes to the social good through their charitable giving as well as their consuption of goods. Who supports the symphonies, the museums, libraries, etc. if not the weathy?
Bankrupt the corporations and you will see a cut in social services.

In life, one cannot paint everything either black or white. There is the good, and there is the bad, and most everyone falls in between. Don't paint every corporation with the same brush.
This is capitalism. Corporations are out to make as much money as they can. Are you any different?
Consider that it is possible
to do good things for the community at large
while doing well financially.
Many corporations consider that their goal.

Yes! These companies had corrupt management left to prosper during the Clinton administration. The management of these companies has been ousted, indited, or jailed, all three in some cases.
my 401K has doubled in the past four years, thank you :D

it's my understanding that most corperations want to make as much money as posable and maintain a good public image, not help the comunity at large. those days were long ago when Rockafellers ran coperations and built cities and left everythig to the comunites they built. now accountants have too much say and philantropy takes a back seat. how many coperations hide their income in tax shelters or place one person and a phone in the brumuda to hide from taxes. the system works when all do their fair share, it fails when we allow people to be exploited.

If you disagree with the philosophy of companies making money for their shareholders then buy stock in companies that do not have this philosophy.
