When you say "water drinking machine" are you referring to the Reverse Osmosis machines found at Walmart or a grocery store? If so then YES it is better than most public tap water.

depends. Ive read about clean bottle water, most arent cleaner then tap some were even worse then tap. Its just filtered water. We have well water and I have to get a RO/DI to get it real good. Our water is clear in the glass and has no taste. It does leave hardwater stains in shower but not much.
You can get a RO/DI for $80 new on most sites. You dont need the super 200 stage 400gallon a day thing hehe (jk). 2 stage with affordable filters, one I found was $11.

It does have a purpose but every reason to use it I can think of is strictly an emergency.

RO or RO/DI water will always be better than using any other source, treated or not. If you can use it, do it. I used to use the RO water from machines at the grocery store but I installed my own RO/DI before upgrading to my current tank. It's been a life saver. Also seriously consider how much you'll save in gas that you won't have to drive out to the store to pick up more water, etc.

Back when I was just getting started prime saved my tank from me a couple of times... But yeah I'd use the watermachine water, and I don't use prime now but have abottle handy in case of emergency.

Yes, it's good in an emergency to quickly reduce ammonia, just not appropriate for everyday use.
