Bottom feeders

I have got two triggers and a dogface puffer, I was wondering what I could put in the tank that would eat the food that sinks to the bottom.

A syphon would work. With that fish mix there are no inverts that would be safe enough long term to be effective. In most cases, the trade off for having an aggressive tank is manual or mechanical movement of waste. If you have good flow/circulation and a good skimmer, that will help, along with regular water changes.

I know that inverts are not going to work. I was told to try a goatfish but was wanting to see if there was anything cheaper out there. Besides a syphon.

Goatfish often don't do well. They need to be constantly eating or many just starve. Granted, they could hold their own with your tankmates (depending on what type of triggers you have) but they're not the best choice for a janitor fish.

your puffer will accually eat from the bottom.cc is the best I have found as substrates for puffers they will pick up mouth fulls of cc through out the day eating what ever foos is on them while also mainting his toothy grin.if you have LS add some cc to it your puffer will thank you for it.also if he is a smaller you can get some hermit crabs .amount will depend on your tank size be advised though puffers do love hermits and snails I buy them as snacks lol
