How much do you have for them to eat? I have 1 emerald in my 29g, and 2 scarlet hermits, and 2 halloween crabs....along with snails, this tank was set up 4/1.......and I was worried after I put them in.....

i mean what i have now they are all over the place my emeralds pick up the pellets my percs dont eat, and the hermits all over the rocks and sand aswell....
same goes for my snails if they arent on my rocks crusing around they lave these funnny ass lil trails on my glass where they were eating the algea off the walls... i think 2 or 3 scarlets wont hurt and of course some more snails but if ne thing ill give away two of my blue legs and get 3 scarlets....

I have never been able to get a consistent answer about CUCs. In my 45 I have about 12-15 snails. I don't know the names but I have a handful of little smooth looking baby ones, Two really biiiigggg bummpy looking ones and a bunch of those little pyramid coney ones. They are all happy and cruize around and eat like crazy but then again, I do have a lot of glass surface, it being a high tank and all... Then I have two small female emeralds and one HUGE male. Then I have 2 peppermint shrimp, and one flame shrimp. And then maybe 10 very very tiny hermits. Some would say that is a big crew for my tank, but I purposely over feed for the shrimps to have things to eat and I sinking pellets that they love. So that is that.... All of my guys are happy and all accounted for too. Some people on here have like 50 hermits crabs in a 50 gal, which is not much bigger than mine! I guess it depends on how clean you like your tank.
As far as the pellets go, My clowns actually really like the pellets, They are formula 1 I think. The meaty ones... but they like it. They also try to eat phytoplankton that I skirt around the corals every few weeks. They're piggies.... Well, actually they're fish. But you know.

Personnaly I wouldn't bother with flakes. I don't think anyone in saltwater really feeds them. I have left over flakes that I have been using to ghost feed my nano. My fish would never get that. I feed a variety. I bought a pack of the frozen cubed food and it's a variety pack. It had emerald entree, a mysis pack, an omega brine pack and a squid pack (they don't like that. I am saving that for my lion, if hell eat it.) But I will open two little cubes a week from the tray and pick a little from each at different feedings to keep interest. They seem to be happy and the food is cheaper that way.
PPHHHEEEWWWWW! A lot of writing!

Oh anddddddd FYI, I think a 1/2 of one of those cubes waaaayyy two much for two little clowns. I feed a 1/4 of a cube, twice a day. Sometimes, I substitute the pellets if they are interested when I feed the shrimp.
I also got my CUC for my new nano today... Yay for me!

at first thats what i thought that half a cube would be to big and again i would feed pellets and they would really ignore them, but today i put in half a cube and both of the clowns were picking at it and tearing it up which to me is a great sign....
i honestly thought that it was going to come to a point that they would starve to death cause they werent eating so with that being said im a lil more relaxed...
one more question, do you guys think its too early if i go out tomorrow and buy a fire fish or should i just wait it out till next weekend and make sure for this week i dont have ne huge changes in water parameters....
and rlablan thanks for the response, fyi i didnt add ne more to my cuc i would still like to add a couple more snails tho

I would wait, just over the weekend. I think you'll be fine but in such a small tank, I think that you would be fine but you don't want a sudden increase in bioload.
I am glad the clowns are eating... I am not sure why all of my fish like the pellets. Every animal, except the mandarin will eat them. My anemone will even catch them and eat them. Maybe it's the pellets I feed?
If the tank is not dirty, you don't really need a bigger crew. I like a bigger crew, it's more activity in the tank and a nicer looking sand bed. You'll figure out what you need and what you like. it just takes time.

the reason y i was considering a bigger crew is because my sand bed is in te middle of being this ugly brown color and forest green color i miss seeing my beautiful white sand and again for the most part besides the for one snail who likes hanging out on my glass walls... all they do is eat off of my rocks and thats the one place i dont mind having ne algea....
