bring back the good old days!!!

Hello, this is not meant to make anyone mad or anything but i think this message board needs to go back to some of its old ways. like bringing back the selling and trading section it would bring more people to the boards and possibly even bring back some of the old more seasoned people. it was always fun to come on here and see all these great systems and all the participation. but now when you post a question or something it may be a week before you get a reply. on some of the other boards their are contests and prizes. its just great. i would love to see this place liven up like it used to be. i have been on here since 2007 and back then it was hard to get me away from my computer reading posts and learning, now i hardly ever get on due to the lack of excitement on here. sry but i miss the old days. :/

been a bit boring lately...sighhhh....but it is also summer, and a lot of people fell on hard times I think too....there is a contest out there right now.....mrdc started it with SWF's help....I think speg can link it if you are interested...I think it's too late to enter for this one, but you can still vote....

meowser got it .summertime.the only reason i am on the computer is because it is pouring rain out.just got done doing water changes to 4 tanks.all caught up now.last thing i want to do is sit inside in the summertime.

I think the big let down with the VB4 "upgrade" has a lot to do with the doldrums we are experiencing now. Hopefully we will see something new and exciting here by the end of the month.

I noticed how things changed when I came back after my year or so hiatus. This was before the software upgrade. I think more has to do with people geting out of the hobby for money reasons. I'm sure the summer and upgrade has had an effect but I do believe it's deeper than that. This can be an expensive hobby and that is what it is...a hobby. I bet here are a lot of other hobbies that have fallen too. I just read an article the other day discussing how the "stimulus" package was wearing off and people still aren't spending. We may see more of a drop off on the boards.

yea i had the stock list all planned out for my 260 gallon reef and order of adding stuff and now its gone!!! i hope they change/fix that!! :/

Yes, that is a big issue that will hopefully be resolved by the new, non-VB, forum. That is a major loss to SWF in my opinion, but the stuff is still out there; its not lost.

However, I was around when this form started, it only had 50 members and three forums when I joined. I'm sure SWF forum will recover, and then some.

Yeah, this new upgrade was poorly planned. I strongly believe losing that button killed about 30-40% of my posts.

I think a lot of planning did go into the new forum, but VB4 seems to have flaws/issues that are not exclusive to SWF.
If anything, better not to get a new program under any circumstances until it has proven its worth and viability. But that's the past, and we move on to the future where hopefully things will be much, much better.

I haven't been outside the Aquarium because I am sinking every $ I have into getting my house built-without a loan. I have lusted over some of SWF's sales lately but I keep reminding myself that I am going to have a HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE inwall tank when it's done and with no m@rtg@ge, I'll be able to go crazy. So conversely, as the aiptasia spread and kill more and more of my zenias, mushrooms and zoas, instead of posting and discussing the slow decimation of my reef, I just keep working on my house. After December, hopefully there'll be enough folks left here to help me fill my 1000g inwall tank.
