I think a lot of planning did go into the new forum, but VB4 seems to have flaws/issues that are not exclusive to SWF.
If anything, better not to get a new program under any circumstances until it has proven its worth and viability. But that's the past, and we move on to the future where hopefully things will be much, much better.

I wasn't refering to SWF's tech group. I was refering to poor planing by VB actually. I know SWF didn't write the code for the glitches that are in this version of VB.

I have, and still blame social media sites...
There is not a healthy forum on the internet that doesn't have a healthy off-topic section. It allows the forum to be more dimensional then the subject it was created for. The advent of social media sites allows these discussions to happen elsewhere, and turns the forums into basically question and answer board. For a while this wasn't a problem, as facebook/myspace where still geared for their original attendance, highschool/college kids, and it really didn't what age you were on forums, generally. But now with being socially acceptable for anyone of any age to be on myface, if someone has something they need to say/rant, they do it on myface instead. As the forum turns into Q&A board, the more and more experienced members stop coming, some stay and help till they've had enough as well...

Let's face it peeps .. the chemistry is gone. I've been a member sine 2004 and it's nothing like it used to be. We used to have a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly and you couldn't wait to log on and catch up with the latest dirt! " Who got banned today, a mod or an average member"? Very few political BS threads!! You couldn't help yourself but to laugh and join in the mess!! Good friends, good times, I guess it was a one shot deal .. but I miss it!!

There's a combination of reasons why I haven't been on lately. The upgrade didn't help, husband came home from overseas, complications with pregnancy, just trying to stay afloat financially, taking care of my dad(has early onset Alzheimers) and trying to keep up with the housework as much as possible (although the possibility of hiring someone to help out to clean has become a recent thought. lol). Things around here have really changed with the posters too. It's quieter and I'm not a politics buff so I just don't post. I keep up with Facebook more than anything because I can talk to my family about my endeavors on there. If anyone wants to add me let me know. I miss all the good conversations here the most.

The hobby itself has taken a nose dive. It only stands to reason the forums will be slower as are all sales in this sector. Then you couple the small trickle of new hobbyists and the mass exodus of established hobbysists...... there's just not as many people to carry on discussions anymore.

I encourage everyone to not throw in the towel just yet. Obviously the one resounding complaint has been the upgrade.
Admin has been really been focusing a lot of attention on this. I look forward to the replacement system and hope it brings some of the folks that left back for good.

I've been here for a while now and I see lulls like this on occasion. They always seem to rectify themselves. As stated, there may be a perfect storm right now. Summertime, upgrade, economy, etc. I know I am only able to get on here every few days right now.

You should blog your thoughts, and have SWF post them...

Yep, I know the busy thing. I had to take today day off to rebuild the road across a large wash thanks to 10' of water rushing down the hill and taking out my culverts and 6' of dirt and stone on top. It dropped about 8" of rain in an hour. I was complaining 3 days ago about the late monsoon, now I wish it would skip a year. I can't think of anything less than a hurricane that could drop that much water, that fast. When my house is done and I'm staring at my 1000 gallon in-wall tank, this headache will be worth it and I'll be posting again-about fish anyway.

I agree. 4 really big local fish stores went out of business around me and one ends up doing business out of his home because he can't afford to run a whole store. With a bad economy comes sacrifices.
