I have at least 8 Bristle stars growing in my tank...are they really as bad as I have heard? and if so, how do I go about removing them?

Small mini brittle stars are good for your tank. A picutre would help to ID them better. Mini Brittle stars come in as hitchhikers on live rock. They feed on detritus in the rockwork and will wave their arms in the flow of water to try to catpure food.

That my friend is not a brittle star it is Aiptasia sp. a pest anemone that will multiply very quickly and will sting anything in it's reach. You need to get these out of your tank. Use the search button and you will find multiple ways of exterminating them.

According to the guy whose been taking care of my tank, there have been no issues..granted he has less knowledge than I do, but no issues with any of the fish or inverts...

Meowzer,
I have been checking out this site for almost 2 years now, and have seen multiple replies from many different people suggesting different things. That is the reason that I ask questions. I do not want to take the first suggestion that comes my way and somehow destroy my entire tank due to somebody making an off the cuff comment on an issue that they may not know much about. I thank you to keep the sarcasm to thyself. Thanks,
SSG D

The Aiptasia X product has had good reviews. Have never used it myself but have read a lot about it.
Go easy on Meowzer, she is a good lady and has seen many people come on with an agenda in mind and that would not take an answer that does not meet with their thought plan, even after many people had told them so. She knows her stuff, you would do well to be friendly with her.

HMMM...all I can tell you is they are fluffy...LOL
The Maine Coon is a breed of domestic cat well known for its distinctive physical appearance. It is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, specifically native to the state of Maine,[1] where it is the official State Cat.
Although the Maine Coon's exact origins and date of introduction to the United States are unknown, many theories have been proposed. The breed was popular in cat shows in the late 1800s, but its existence became threatened when long-haired breeds from overseas were introduced in the early 20th century. The Maine Coon has since made a comeback and is now the second most popular cat breed in the world, according to the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA).
The Maine Coon is generally noted for its large bone structure, its rectangular body shape, and a long, flowing coat. The breed can be seen in a variety of colors and are known for their intelligence[2] and gentle personalities.[3] Health problems, such as feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hip dysplasia, are seen in the breed, but testing is available to detect the genes responsible for causing these abnormalities.

LOL...all I know is that the SOB eats his own weight every 2 weeks, and loves to attack my glasses and cell phone at 0400 every day unless I close the bedroom door!

Where in NY Meowzer? Because if your close enough to me, I will hire you to occasionally come over, look at my tank, and tell me what I'm doing wrong, or what I should be doing. $100 an hour sounds good.
