Bristleworms

I hope someone can help me. I have this little worm in my tank the fish store calls it a bristleworm. They sold me a trap to get it out with but the trap is useless. The dumb little worm won't even go near it. I think there is only one in there and it is the ugliest thing I have seen in a while. People tell me to leave it in there that it wouldn't not hurt anything BUT I don't like it in there I am afraid that I might get hurt on it when I clean the glass in my tank. Is there anything anyone can tell me besides not feeding. I have other fish in there and they might die if I stop. This thing is SOOOOO CREEPY LOOKING!!!!! Thanks in advance. :help:

Bristleworms are a natural part of the tank, I have tons of big worms that freak out my wife. Get used to it and be happy it's there to clean up your leftover food.

The bristleworms won't actually hurt you unless you touch them and get a bristle in your skin. Happened to me before and did cause some itching and discomfort but that was about it. I agree with what above said, and although they're creepy looking they eat detritus which is never a bad thing.

I agree with all that was said. In addition if you see one, then I am willing to bet you have more. Its all good though. Also, in addition to cleaning up dead fish (highly recommend you to remove it, if and when you see it), they will also eat any dead inverts---and thats a blessing, often times you wont notice that. Does it look like this? This pic dont show the colors (which are pink and purple), but the bristles are unmistakable, hince the name. HTH

Thats a big bristle worm. Anyway don't get rid of it because I'm sure there's more than 1. They are not bad and it shouldn't come close enough to hurt you. Anyway if you ever buy more lr then you'll probably end up with more.
