brown algae?

I have alot of brown algae on the back glass of my tank. I do not know if I should scrape it off or leave it. Is it harmful???

How old is your tank? Perhaps its time for some snails? Do you have a Clean up Crew?
Have a picture?

i have a few snails but they really do not help. i do not have a picture. it is a dark brown marroon color.

NONE...Use a glass cleaning magnet.....although a lot of people (including myself) don't mess with the back glass...
