Brown dusting on glass

OK i have a brown dusting on my glass and i have a AquaC Remora skimmer but do i need a better one to keep the brown dust building up on my glass? How can i keep this building up?

Diatoms are incredibly efficient at gathering food so there's no way to prevent them just by nutrient deprivation.
You can reduce the Diatom population by keeping Silicates very low but you can't really prevent them completely.

It takes about a week before a lite build up

In my experience the typical tank has a noticeable buildup after 3 or 4 days.
