What clowns do you have?
Sebaes are generally bigger. Bubbletips are easier and most clowns will host them. They are both nice anemones. Remeber that simply because you get the anemone does not mean that the clowns will even like it though. I hope they do though!!

Isn't your tank new?? You do realize that you should not attemt to add any type of anemone into a tank that is not at least 6 months old....Believe me I use to call myself anemone killer...

anenome=anemone
False percula=ocellaris
Make sure you research it well first. No offense to you but not being able to spell the organism in question is the main sign that you have not done enough research. These are difficult to care for to say the least. Make sure you know exactly what you're doing and if there is any doubt in your mind that your tank won't be able to support one, then wait. Making sure your tank is a minimum of 6 months before getting an anemone is one of the few rules of thumbs that I actually like.

simply because i spelled the word wrong has no bearing on my ability to take care of it. I have not done online research, however, I have been talking exclusively with my local pet store owner. He hadn't informed me of the six month rule. I, in no way, want to kill any living organism and would not do anything that i know could harm my fish either.

I really feel like some people on these threads are on some type of a high horse and just want to put everyone down like they are stupid and don't know or care what they are doing

Most people that have not researched anemones thoroughly spell it incorrectly. That is a fact. Are there exceptions, well of course. I wasn't saying that based on a misspelling you are not capable. I was simply saying that this misspelling led me to wonder if you have done the proper research. I do not think I'm better than you and I was trying to avoid sending that message across. I didn't mean to put you down and make you feel stupid for it
I was looking out for the health of the animal at question. Now that you know how to spell anemone, you can avoid leading other people to make the same false assumption I did. I'm not sorry for the context of my post, but I am sorry for writing it so poorly that it came across a different way than the way I meant for it to come across. I just wanted to make sure you did some reading on them...that is incredibly important imo. How old is your tank? Lots of first time anemone owners lose them in new tanks.

The tank has been established for 2 months. Is there any reason why anemones do not do well in a tank that is less than six months old? And I apologize for being rash I have just read a lot of the comments that people have left on here to other people and wondered what was going through their head when they were saying it and how they could be so rude. I know that your intentions were good, as are mine with my tank

I do not know the EXACT reasonings for the "six month rule" BUT I do know from experience that w/o the proper lights, and w/o excellent water parameters an anemone will not survive....I am sad to say I learned that the hard way...(well hard for the anemone and my purse)
On another note...please remember that most (not all) LFS are out for business, and not the best interest of you or your livestock...
If you need further explanation, please go to the anemone section and read some of the threads posted there....

I agree about most LFS owners. This one is a family friend and is having me do things as he did them (with success of course). I will wait the anemone for the time being i guess.

In my honest opinion, and the experiences I have had...I think waiting is best.

H. crispa and E. quads have different requirements. You really need to post your tank info if you would like to get an educated answer.

The reasoning behind this, I'm not 100%, but I can give you what I feel is a fairly good speculation...
When I set up my first tank, I had absolutely wonderful water parameters for a few months immediately following the initial cycle. My water and lights could have supported a sebae easily. However the following month I got a crap load of cyanobacteria. My water parameters were good enough for fish, but had I bought a sebae when the parameters were excellent, it would have been dead at this time in the tank's life. Some people don't realize it, but the tank's cycle is far more than just the stability caused by nitrogenous bacterium. By 6 months, you can usually guarantee that the tank is stable.
One last thing. Had I reread my first post on here, I would not have pressed submit reply. It came off the wrong way. I'm glad you forgave me and we can move on

I agree 100% with Meowzer, it is almost impossible to wait too long in this hobby.
