The Tokyo Games Show (typically abbreviated as TGS) is often thought of as Japan’s E3. David Reeves, the head of Capcom Europe, has
hinted that Capcom might have a Wii U project to show off there.
Capcom haven’t announced anything officially on Wii U. I think they have done prototypes. There are only so many things you can get ready for E3 [laughs]. But they might show something at the Tokyo Games Show which is where Wii U is more focused on. I haven’t seen anything personally myself but since the companies are quite close, I am sure they must be looking at something.
As a marketing guy, Reeves is not involved in any actual game development, but he is more in touch with Capcom than the rest of us, so if he believes that the teams in Japan are working on something, he probably has reasons to do so.

Ignition Entertainment’s
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is an upcoming game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. But a recent comment made by their director of business development, Shane Bettenhausen, reveals that they may consider bringing the game over to the Wii U.
I think first we’ll probably do more of spin-offs… whether that’s DLC, I think it might be cool to port this to Wii U or Vita maybe.
I haven’t actually heard much about El Shaddai until now, but there does seem to be a fan base around it. Its coming to the Wii U can only mean good things.

Yves Guillemot was recently interviewed by the Swedish site
Aftonbladet. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed project for the Wii U came up, and Guillemot confirmed that it won’t be a port of the upcoming
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while declining to elaborate any further.
Aftonbladet: We saw something about a new Assassin’s Creed for Wii U. What can you say about that?
Guillemot: Our next edition of Assassin’s will be in a Wii U version.
Aftonbladet: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations?
Guillemot: No, not Revelations. For the future.
Aftonbladet: So it’s Assassin’s Creed III? Or is it something else?
Guillemot: I can’t tell you that.
It remains to be seen whether the Assassin’s Creed game for the Wii U will be an original project for the console or a port of a future 360/PS3 installment in the series. Either way, I’m already getting excited just thinking about everything the touchscreen controller could be used for in an Assassin’s Creed game.

Two-Face detailed with character bio and art

Rocksteady Studios have released a character bio and some art of the master of chance, Two-Face. The psychotic criminal will be an antagonist in the upcoming Arkham City game coming to the Wii U in 2012. The question still remains how the Wii U version will stand out from the PS3/360 versions. With those versions coming out much earlier I hope that developers make the Wii U Arkham City something worth waiting for.
Background Story:
“District Attorney Harvey Dent was one of Batman’s strongest allies in Gotham City, until a criminal threw acid in Dent’s face, hideously scarring him. The wounds fractured his psyche, and he was reborn Two-Face, a schizoid criminal mastermind obsessed with duality.
“His former good-luck charm, a ‘two-headed’ trick silver dollar, was damaged on one side in the attack, and Dent has seized on it as a reflection of his half-scarred visage. He flips it to decide the fates of his victims. Two-Face is thriving in Arkham City, rallying inmates to join his gang using tried and true campaign tactics.”

Zelda HD Experience
While speaking to
Industry Gamers, Eiji Aonuma stated that he has been working on the Wii U in some capacity for about two years. He was often asked how Zelda would work on the Nintendo Wii U which resulted in the HD Zelda experience that we saw at E3. You know, that beautifully detailed demo of Link fighting a boss.
Well, one thing I want to emphasize here, when talking about the Wii U
Zelda HD experience, is that we really built it specifically to be an experience. The idea is using Zelda as the backdrop for one of these HD experiences, what kind of representation Zelda can make there. But this is really just to show people what kind of things the console can do.
And so, it’s not necessarily the case that we would use that graphic style or depiction the same way we would in a new
Zelda, when there is a new Zelda for the Wii U. Just like the map functionality that was also implemented in that experience – it’s simply us giving an objective look at the kinds of things that can be done with the HD hardware. And Zelda happened to be the filter through which we view it in that experience. So nothing is defined right now as far as how we’ll proceed.
Though we actually know little about the Wii U’s online system, we do know that it will be a step up from its predecessor. Aonuma acknowledges the Wii U’s new online by discussing a Zelda game having that functionality.

Far Cry 3 on Wii U? We’ll see how it goes, says Ubi

http://s.wiiugo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Far-Cry-3.jpgUbisoft’s Far Cry 3 is set to release on the PS3, PC and 360 in 2012. However, a Wii U version does not seem to be on the menu, for now at least. When asked whether Wii U owners would be getting the game the response wasn’t too promising.
“That all remains to be seen, to be honest,”
said Jamie Keen, lead designer on the game. “Right now we’ll concentrate on those three lead SKUs [PC, PS3 and Xbox 360], and we’ll have to see how it goes from there.”
Jamie Keen was then pressed on the matter, and reminded that Ubisoft are supporting the Wii U with Assassin’s Creed and Gearbox are supporting the platform with Aliens: Colonial Marines. These games surely demonstrate that the Wii U could showcase more maturer games than it’s predecessor? His response was:
“I’m afraid I’m going to be super evasive on this one! I think the possibilities of Wii U… I think it opens up a new realm of possibilities for more mature titles, but for now we’re concentrating on those three SKUs.”
Far Cry 3 for Wii U could still be a possibility but for now it seems Wii U owners will be missing out.

Where's our BioShock, Ken?
While speaking to
IGN, Ken Levine made it clear that Irrational Games has nothing in the works for the Wii U. Even though, he was quite impressed with the console and appeared in Nintendo’s Wii U third party software video back at E3. He did say that it was a possibility but that they were not working on anything at the moment.
“Just to be clear, there are no plans. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but we have no plans to do any games for that platform.”
Levine does seem to believe that the Wii U will be able to offer a ‘core’ gaming experience.
“The fact that the Wii U has got two sticks… I feel it’s like… It’s a great year for the core coming back and saying, okay, have your touch screens, have your motion control, we’ll try to make that work, and if you can pull that off it’ll be really good.”
This is slightly disappointing as PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 will be receiving BioShock Infinite and the PSVita is getting a BioShock game “built from the ground up”.

Metro Last Light’s prologue trailer from E3 has recently surfaced. The post-apocalyptic title will be making its way to the Wii U, PS3 and 360 in 2012. Unfortunately, it seems to end just as it starts getting good but I guess that’s the nature of a prologue. However, it does give a fair idea of what the visuals will be like.

Though they haven’t specifically looked into the Wii U, vice president of franchise development, Ville Heijari has said that Angry Birds and the Wii U are quite a good match.
“We really haven’t looked into the Wii U specifically yet – we haven’t announced anything for Nintendo consoles yet. But if you look at the control methods, if you look at the Wii U, I mean that’s a really, really natural match, so obviously we’re very interested in developing there as well,” added Heijari.
As of June Angry Birds has been downloaded 250 million times.
