bugs on top of the water

I have little bugs running all over the top of my water. What could they be? I fished a few out with my net and they almost look like small mosquitos but they are white. They are not copeopods, I know what they look like. They move like the black water bugs you see on lakes and ponds, but they are white.

Is your tank near a window...mine sits next to a window and in the summer I have a window fan blowing over the semi-open tank. At night I find all kinds of drowning gnats etc. You'd think the fish would appreciate the extra protein but they don't touch the stuff. :)

Bang,
They kind of look like tiny gnats but they move like water bugs.
Life,
No they are so tiny I could not photo them.

If you have terrestrial bugs, which is being suggested, then you don't have enough circulation in the tank to keep them from doing that.

I am pretty sure they are not gnats. I have tons of circulation, I have two large powerheads, one small, my filter has a wave action that I use on the top of the water and I have a skilter which also moves the top of the water. I guess they are not hurting anything though.

Thats really odd then. I don't know of terrestrial bugs that can survive like that on saltwater. Maybe some sort of intertidal/lagoonal bug. On another note i do know that some fry/larvae of reproducing inverts/fish will float to the top ofthe water and survive up there until they are big enough to come below but i have no clue if thats happening in yoru tank or not.
Bang Guy would know if anything...
