They are so much fun to shoot. The availability of interchangeable parts such as upper assemblies in a dozen+ calibers and stock configurations makes them fun to build. It's like a model car that you can rebuild over and over, changing it into something new each time.
I absolutely love the palm rest, but it is too cumbersome for a carry rifle. A custom grip built like the Hogue with a quick detach palm rest would be ideal, IMO.
The collapsible stock is better suited to my length of pull, but the lack of a cheek rest takes a little getting used to. I just don't like the options available in add on cheek rests.
There seems to be a run on threaded "pre-ban" style barreled uppers. If Obama's ban goes permanent, this may be our last chance to get them at a decent price.
Nice
hopefully santa likes me this year and gets me one before the ban

Buying a kit ($450) and a stripped lower ($125) is the least expensive route. Later you can add things like a JP trigger and hammer.
If you get your C&R FFL first, many places will give you dealer pricing which will save a chunk, too. C&R FFL is easy to get and inexpensive. Seems like mine was $90 up front for 3 years and $30 annually to renew. I didn't amend mine when we moved back to CA, so I guess that it has expired. I should look into renewing it now that we have stopped moving all over the country. You can get C&R firearms shipped directly to your front door, too, which knocks out the middle man on a lot of really cool old guns like Mausers and such.

Hey Shaggy, Hogue grip?
I'd like to see a hogue with a palm shelf. I'd definitely buy one. I've considered picking up the Hogue and retrofitting my palm rest to it.

Yeah, it's a Hogue. I would definately like to see a detachable palm.

Take a look at an LMT/Crane SOPMOD stock, better cheek weld and collapsible. Cost a little more but worth it. Also night want to look into the Magpul PRS, not collapsible but adjustable LOP and cheek rest.

Thanks.
I've seen the Magpul, but haven't taken time to get intimate with one to see how well I like it. $200+ is a lot of coin to hope it's as good as expected. I hadn't seen the LMT SOPMOD, but I looked it up and will definitely consider it as an option.
Here's a link in case anyone else is interested in how they look. I didn't shop for the best price, just pics, so keep that in mind.
