ok because I seam to get ahead of you . Lets slow it down .
I understand your point of we should not have gotten involved . But WE are .
I understand your point of there are 10 year old kids trained to hate america .
Now that I have acknowlaged you points please explain your point on how retreating out of there is going to make things better for both the USA and for the locals . Plese don't just throw some wild answer out there . I am honestly trying to give you the bennefit of the doubt here . If you can act like an adult then I am sure the rest of us can also .
How will it benefit the USA? We won't have anymore senseless killings of American soldiers. We can spend the projected 300 billion (over whatever billion amount it is) that would be used over there, on infrastructure projects in the USA (i.e. rebuilding the levees in New Orleans the RIGHT WAY, preparing California for what scientist say will be a major earthquake in the next 10 years, etc.). If you want to relieve the fear of future terroristic attacks, I can't help you there. I've made numerous posts on my philosophies of completely ridding terroristic threats on American soil.
How will it benefit Iraq? When living in a constant war zone, there are no benefits. All we are doing over there is putting one big band aid on the problem. Sure we are making things better while we occupy their nation. We're practically building them a brand new infrastructure on our nickel. We're keeping the attacks down to once a week, instead of every day. We're giving them a new political system that apparently is much better than the one they had. But whether we stay there just one more day, or for 10 more years, I honestly think that when we do finally leave, it'll take maybe 5 years before everything goes back to the way it was. It is what it is. These people have lived this way for centuries. You can preach to them until you're blue in the face - Democracy Good, Socialism, Dictatorship Bad. And the new elected officials in charge of their new Democratic political system will smile at you and agree with you 100% that the new changes will make a difference. But there's still those two or three other militant groups that disagree with these new philosophies, and will do whatever it takes to get rid of them. They are there, and you know it. They may not have the manpower right now, but who knows in 5 or 10 years. We've been training their military and police, and they lost how many after the first incursion with their enemy? Do you think they'll be able to sustain an army strong enough to fight off the Kurds, Shiites, or whoever their enemies are today, much less Iran if they decide they want to move in? So I'm sorry to say, unless you want to keep a US presence in that area for an infinite amount of time, there are no benefits for the Iraqi people.
On another note, once this war is over, I hope the Federal Government has plans to address the ever-increasing problem of the mental health issues of our American soldiers returning from Iraq...
