You aren't really asking advice about the possibility of getting a mantis in a tank after you just murdered one. When a life is in your hands and there are natural behaviors you don't like then take the responsabilty to find it a new home.

A quick post on the local reef club forum would have solved the issue without killing the animal. I wonder what God thinks when I inject one of His creatures with lemon juice and Kalk to kill it. If I leave the hobby, this will be why. Is spraying ants worse than shooting bald eagles from the sky? At what point do we consider life precious?
Just something to ponder the next time we feel the need to kill the animals we are in charge of looking after.

I can relate. I've had one aiptasia on a piece of live rock since I set up the tank about 12 weeks and I don't have the heart to kill it. I'm not 100% positive it's aiptasia (but probably is) and it was the only living thing I could see for those first few very boring months so I just can't bring myself to put the Joe's Juice on it. I BOUGHT some, but haven't used it.

There are too many irresponsible people in this hobby, who kill any living creature they don't like in their tanks. I'm sure these people have the same logic in real life too. Oh well... Heck, one time I found a nasty crab in one of my LR and I still didn't kill it. I ended up giving it to someone on these forums who put it in his fuge.

All the MORE reason to set up a sump or a fuge..... a welcoming place for something that's not desirable in the DT but might be very happy (and maybe beneficial) elsewhere, and NO KILLING!

Cmon guys it was just a shrimp, i understand that it is a living creature and it did nothin to him, but if you find a rattlesnake on your porch your gonna kill it, even if it has done nothin to you.

You need to have some respect. I keep them as pets, thus you are talking about killing my pet. I won't go to the rattlesnake forum sniffing around for recipes and I expect the same courtesy to be extended here.

Alright everyone I think the point has been made. Salt Nate was working on information he had that the mantis is bad and not something wanted in your display. Harm done and over as he now understands. I don't think he is a serial critter killer.

Respect???
Listen. If you want to keep rattlesnakes as pets thats your business. If I catch one on my porch I will kill it 10 times over.. K! As I said in my first post, I just don't walk around looking to kill gods creatures, but you are getting bent of shape over a little shrimp. So, should I not feed my grouper live shrimp, is that inhumane to watch a shrimp swim for his life right b4 my grouper destroys it(isnt it all the same)

Heck I am thinking about a Mantis for My Fowlr since he might be the only thing that could survive with Triggers and a Dog Faced Puffer.
