Calcium And Alk

What is the best way yo add CALCIUM AND ALK? I am going to get these test kits so I think that I will start adding them to my tank. I think that this will help with my hair algae. I was wondering what I needed to get to add these? I want to get Kalk paste because I have some glass anemones and they said this would kill them. I this a good suplement also? Any info will help.

IMO the absolute best way is a combination of a Calcium carbonate reactor and dripping limewater.
That might be overkill for your 55 unless it's packed with coral.
Perhaps one or the other or a two-part additive like B-Ionic.

I only have 1 shroom and one polyp that I got free from LFS. What is limewater and Calcium carbonate reactor? Sorry for being so stupid.

If those are your corals then the best way for you to maintain Calcium and ALK would be water changes IMO.
A Calcium reactor is a chamber you can fill with Aragonite or Dolomite and slowly bleed CO2 into the chamber. This lowers the PH in the chamber enough to dissolve the Calcium carbonate material.
Limewater is Kalk that has been mixed with fresh water.

You do not think that I should add these then? Would it hurd to add a little to Ca to inprove the growth on my LR

I don't think you need it.
It won't hurt to adda little Ca provided you add the same dose of Carbonate (ALK). Those two need to be in balance.

As the previous posters mentioned, I feel the best thing is to allow your tank to establish itself and mature. Then worry about calcium and alk. You may find youself chasing parameters when the system would settle down very nicely all on its own.

Thanks
I think that I will gete some Kalk to kill my glass anemones. I'll wait and see what happens. Do you think that I need the test kits then?
Thanks again:D
