Ok.I did a good search about what levels my calcium should be. From what I gather from test kit, it should be between 400-500. The book Conc. marine aquarium says the same thing. Im not saying i dont trust them but I really would like to know from people on this board what theirs run. As of this morning mine is at 500, and I'd just like some reasurrance that it is a little high or not. My alk is alittle on the low side. Also, Ph alittle low also. All other levels are fine.Thanx in advance.

I was reading an article on another site written by a respected chemist that said 380 to 450 for calcium was an acceptable range. A few on this site say 400-450. Mine runs 380-390 without adding anything.

Mine is at 500 and no problems. Do you dose yours. Some mixes for reefs have higher cal. levels and some mixes have very little.

No, I dont dose. But Im sure real soon in the future I will have to.We have only one hermit crad,6-8 asrea snail,9 sand sifting snails, a few mushrooms and just recently bought a flame scallop. Now, will the Dt's protoplanktin make any of my levels go up or down? I know as far a I can gather from reading before buying the scallop I couldnt find out if there is some sort of test to make sure he's well fed. We have had him in our tank for about a week now, and he's not hiding like most do and he's filtering water and blowing.Very kool looking animal! He actually moves around qiute a bit.

My Calcium is maintained at 420ppm.
You say your ALK is low, that's a bad thing. ALK is more important than your Calcium level.

Be sure to go slow. Don't overdose and don't raise ALK a lot all at once.
