Xenia takes a LOT more energy to produce the same mass as algae. It doesn't go sexual but it has been known to melt down for no good reason.
However, It takes up a LOT less space that algae and consumes 10X the nutrients per square inch (yes, this has been documented).
Summary: If you're space impared it makes a lot more sense to grow and harvest Xenia than it does to try and take care of a handful of algae. If you have lots of space but no money for lighting then stick with algae and a DSB for nutrient export.
I do both and so far it seems to work.

Hey can you define a lot more light? I went to home depot and got one of those bulbs that was discussed beforewhich is adiquate for the algae, but my space is limited and now Im thinking maybe I should do Xenia....

:happyfish Well it kinda looks like the one on the left is anthelia, and the one in the middle is umbrella xenia, and the one on the right pom pom? That's my best guess. -ali:happyfish
