The punctuation and spelling thing...
Honestly it's a pet peeve of mine, but I usually don't say anything unless it's extreme, and even then I won't say anything other than "I can't understand what you are asking." When someone comes onto the board, desperately needing help, and their post is giant run-on sentence full of rambling, misspelled, grammatically addled language, I have to read it three or four times, hoping figure out exactly what the OP is asking.
While it may be a message board, what I take away from seeing it is "your feedback and/or input is not worth my time to structure a post properly." Frankly, I feel disrespected sometimes. Funny... when I see it, it's a clear indication of the age of the poster without having to check their profile.
So to the young posters who do not feel there is anything wrong with it... maybe not, but you may find that your earn more respect from other members by taking the extra time.

Hey folks, let's keep to the topic at hand. Feel free to start a "punctuation" thread in the Aquarium.
Great to see so many young reefers. As Mods we certainly want to encourage this forum to be a welcoming site for each of ya!
