Can I add these from the ocean?

So I live right next to the ocean, and I notice at low tide there are thousands of snails. I was wondering if I could take some and put them in my tank. Would they survive......but here's the catch....I live in Maine, so the water is cooler up here, but late summer it gets very warm, and the tide pools these snails live in can easily get up to 80 degrees, so would it be okay?

Most temperate snails can only survive a few weeks at tropical temperatures. My first answer would be no but then there are species of snails that live in both tropical and temperate climates so my second answer will be it depends on the species of snail.

Thanks! I know my fish, but I am not up on being able to identify snails on the spot. Do you know which ones will survive?

I wouldn't do it, not worth the risk if they do die or carry bacteria into your tank. Snails don't cost that much...
