can you snip off the antennas off of a cleaner shrimp?

Shrimp antennae are not like dog whiskers in the slightest bit. Shrimp antennae are capable of sensory activity without even making contact with objects. In other words, it would cause pain to the shrimp if you cut them.
Another function of the antennae is for defence. They use them to keep fish at bay and even to whip them. I would venture to say that a shrimp without antennae would be very skittish and hide a lot, even missing out on meals.
Some brought up the comparison of cooking shrimp. Animals were put on this earth for us to consume, I agree. However, we have the responsibility to kill the animal in the most humane way before consuming it. Snipping off the sensory organs of a captive animal for aesthetic reasons is not the same and it is irresponsible, revolting, and cruel to do.
I know nobody is claiming they ARE going to do it, but I strongly discourage even considering it. It IS torture...animal torture.

No, you are not. That is so messed up. They use their antenas to find food.

I was hoping for a more definitive answer as to removing my pets appendages, I was considering taking a few inches off my german shepherds legs, so she cant see over the edge of the dinner table. (I am just wondering how to get an even cut so she doesn't wobble)
