nope, in my opinion its like asking if you can poke out your childs eyes. both have no defense, and will be essentially blind afterwards. bugs the hell right out of me.

I've cut my dog's whiskers on accident, and he didn't even flinch. I'm guessing a dog's whiskers = a shrimps feelers, sooooo I'm going to ASSUME that it won't hurt it, but the poor shrimp wont be able to feel his way around in the dark as well as he should.
It is in no way "torturing a defenceless animal". It is, however "messing with a defenceless animal".
people need to lighten up. I LOVE animals, I have tons in my house as pets, but even I don't go to the extremes of saying that anythign you do to mess with nature is considered "torture". "Torture" is what happened to prisoners of war in vietnam, or in saddam's prisons. Please don't throw the word around so lightly. And get a grip.

Not sure about anyone elses, but If I tried to hold down my shrimp to clip his antennae it would definitely be torture.

He never said that he was going to do it at all, he was just asking if it was going to hurt the shrimp and was a bad idea. Maybe he hasn't had one before and wasn't sure. I'm pretty sure that you didn't know everything when you first started keeping a fish tank. And I agree with the person above me, you should watch out how you use the word torture, because it's not for one thing and two it's only torture if you have the intention of hurting the torturey. To prove the fact, my cat has whiskers which are used for a sensory device, and they fall of on occasion, does this mean that my cat is attempting to torture itself? I'm guessing that it's not, and I'm guessing you
would know a thing or two about torture.

The OP has stated on other posts that he has had tanks for years. He knows better.

Well it never said that he has had Cleaner Shrimp before now does it? I think you are just trying to back step now because you know that you were wrong. I think you have some explaining to do.
