CBS NEWS - Horrible Journalism

I'm not trying to start a political debate. I'd just like to know what everyone thinks about the CBS - G.W. Bush National Guard Story. My opinion that this is that this story is indicative of everything that is wrong with mainstream journalism today. Clearly the documents were fake, they knew that they hadn't completely authenticated the documents, and the family of the "author" said they were fake, but they aired the story anway.
Anything for viewers. Report the facts, don't try to get viewers with sensationalistic lies. Sorry, but I will no longer recognize CBS as a credible source of news.
What are your opinions???

i never did. Rather is so demacratic that he came close to crying when he learned that the republicans had won both branches and the white house in 2000. i have never watched him since, or ever will.

None of them are unbiased, including the "fair and balanced" channel.

Folks have to dig for the "facts" and work at making up their minds independent of any "news" source.

60 Minutes is the absolute worst news show in existance for reporting BS. They had a huge story several years ago concerning something they claimed happened where my dad worked. He was not involved, but the story was total lies based on what an inmate said. The story put a lot of people in bad situations.
After they aired the show, it was blown wide open and it was proved to them that the whole story was a lie. They never aired a retraction or apologized and to this day anyone who watched that BS still believes it happened.
I would not pee on any of them if they were on fire.

Drama... I call it Jerry Springer Drama. There's always gonna be some weak minded idiot that let's others (press in this case) tell them what to believe and the (Monday mornin' quarter back) who lays out how it woulda been otherwise. I would wash my hands of people like that, but it seems there are just to many of them.:nope:

Amen, CBS should be never be taken seriously. I just love that I read that Dan got beaten out by Simpsons, King of Queens, and Seinfeld reruns at the 630 time slot in Philly... Just shows that they truly have the country poised on thier every word....

They are all the same. It just doesn't seem to be a problem unless it's your person. No, I won't turn this into a politcal debate.

Fox News is the worst IMO. "Fair and Balanced" yeah right. If they want to be a conservative news channel, fine, but don't claim to be balanced. False advertising from where I am sitting.
Hannity & Colmes is the show that really bothers me. They put a strong conservative with a big mouth on oneside and on the other they put a neutered liberal that barely gets a word in.
CNN on the other hand does quite well with their politcal debate Crossfire. You have strong debaters on both sides Begala and Carville on the left and Carlson and Novak on the conservative side.
But honestly does anyone even watch CBS for news?

The political crap comes both ends of the spectrum. I have had my fill. I will vote when the time comes but until then my only concern at this point is that I have cold beer in the frig and my tank is doing well.

If you REALLY
believe this, I would offer to you that you should back up your claim with proof. Call the Neal Boortz show (www.boortz.com) with your proof. He will put you on the air, so you can give the proof. He has had a long-standing challange to anyone who can prove Fox is not fair. So far, he has had no takers. So....give him a call, and back up your claim!

someone else posted about this a while back - there are websites devoted to how this guy has weezled out of his promise ....
Back on point - remember - this is the same CBS that gave us the Tetra Set-up on the mornign news with fresh mixed saltwater, 10 gallon tank and several nemo fish with fake plants .....
back then I wrote a long letter claiming two thigns:
1. CBS News programs have the responsibility of EDUCATING the public - not misleading them.
2. I would not watch CBS news again until the "fixed" their fish story - and I was a Dan Rather fan.
SO I did not see the story as I refuse to watch the CBS news programs.
Having said that - what I find odd is that the fact checker folks have not been fired - they had several other pieces of bona fide supporting materials BUT no one followed through on the documentation.
Of course it just masks the underlying story - politics - spin and smear ..... so tired of it - tell me what you can do for this country not run smear ads ....

What came out after the fact was that all the experts refused to authenticate the memo. The one "expert" that finally told them what they wanted to here turned out to be a librarian that had taken a mail correspondence training course on hand writing recognition.

All national news is biased, slanted and believes in negative, horrific, terrifying world events to draw the sheep into the pen. This leads to higher ratings which leads to more advertisers which leads to BLING$$$$$$$ and that's what everything in this world is all about. It's all garbage.

CBS has done it again by lying saying that Bush plans to bring back the draft after he's elected. It's actually a bill that is dead in the water that was proposed by 2 democrats! Cheney called it an "urban legend". CBS doesn't want to listen.
They need to drop the "C" and just call themselves "BS".

The Draft rumor has been going around for a long time. I can't believe CBS is making this look like an exclusive undercover investigation discovery. Whoever is making the calls at CBS has got to be one of the biggest idiots out there using up my oxygen.

C BS is committing suicide. The funny thing is there are people who still make accusations based on discredited reports by this joke of a news organization. I think this and Brokaws retirement is the death of the big three as the dominating force in news.
I think there are two reasons why FOX is dominating the news channels. First they actually do attempt to show both sides of issues. Even during hard news segments they usually have a guest from both sides of the issue they are discussing. Secondly there are a lot of conservatives that are sick of seeing their views deamonized (true or not) by liberal commentators on the nightly news so they watch FOX.

For not liking CBS, you guys sure do keep up with it. I guess it's so you can see the salute to our fallen soldiers every night. You know, the ones GW sent over to Iraq for no reason. If he says 911 with Iraq enough, he'll find some justification for this mess he's gotten us in. And in the 60's, you went in the National Guard to dodge the draft. That's the way it was. Nobody wanted to die in Vietnam. But, the bravest did what their country asked of them even though the war was wrong. Just like now. I honestly can't understand any defense of this administration.
