What made you decide to get rid of the T.V. ??
It was actually part of a financial decision several years ago. Upon moving to Oceanside from Dayton, Ohio we found ourselves monetarily drained from the move. The community we moved into had a $100 deposit to set up the dish. This allowed us to break contract with Dish Network without fees. That alone saved $50 monthly. After a couple months we were going to pay the $100 and resubscribe to satellite tv. During that time we went to the park more often, started reading again, took day trips as a family, engaged in conversation more often and a host of other things. About a year later my daughter was on the Channel 7 morning news with her katate demo team. We had some friends record it for us. The commercials that aired between the segments were appalling. We realized just how much garbage we had been inviting into our living room every day when we had tv. We have not considered outside TV influence since. We own a TV and dvd player, Playstation, Game Cube, wii, but have no antenna (we did buy an antenna to watch the recent Presidential election results), cable or dish. We no longer sit in our living room and stare at a black box like zombies.
