Chaeto in tank?

I was given a rock of a TON of zoo's, and there's a little patch of what I'm almost positive is chaeto growing in the middle of some of the zoo's. Is that safe to leave IN the tank, or should I get rid of it?

No :/ I've tried many times to get some shots but you can't tell what it is in pictures, especially since a random feather duster also popped up next to it. The best way I can describe it is very soft light green fluff. It's not a very big amount, it's almost like fluffy grass growing under and around about 6-7 medium zoo's.

"Soft light green fluff, almost like fluffy grass" is not chaetomorpha. Chaeto looks like thin green spaghetti and does not attach to rocks.
"Soft light green fluff, almost like fluffy grass" sounds more like the hateful hair algae.

if it looks like fuzzy grass its hair algae, if its hard and stringy it could be cheato

I pulled some up and it does look more like hair algae now, definitely soft to the touch, almost crumbles in my hand like cotton candy. Any good way of getting it out without disturbing the zoo's?

just leave it there. it algae for the rock if you have something that will eat it just let it eat it or if not buy a tang (if your tank is big enough) or if not get it out

IBEW41 is right, you don't want that in your tank. Its in there becuase its eating excess nutrients left over by food or another source.
they eat phosphates and nitrates. remove the source and the problem will eventually go away. phosphates will get absorbed by the LR though and once you remove the source of the phos or have a GFO reactor or scrubber or something to remove the phos and trates it still takes a while to get allt he phos out of the rocks that will leach back out and allow the hair algae to live for a while longer.

yes the hair algae sucks bad stuff, thats what makes it grow.
It will grow right over corals and kill them

well the only reason I have it is because it came on the rock that I got. I can easily get rid of it if I need to, just wanted to verify if it's bad or not first. I only have a 58 gal so a tang is out of the question, but is there any other invert or fish that would eat it that I could put in my tank, without having to actually kill it? I'm just worried about harming the zoo's or the feather dusters that are I guess right around it now, is all.
