Changing vho bulbs

Yesterday the guy at the lfs suggested that I change out my vho bulbs every 6 months.Is there any truth in this?I expected to get a year or so use out of them because I am only running them for about 11 hours a day.I just got my first sps frag to try my luck.It is a cultured piece and the polyps have started to open already.My current bulbs are 3 1/2 months old now(440 combined w/ icecap 660).Thanks for any input!

One year is good since you're using the Icecaps.

I agree, using the ice caps should let you go a year before changing...my year is up I'll be changing this month.
