Cherrystone Clams In The Fuge w/ Miracle Mud?

I recently purchased 5 cherrystone clams to help reduce nitrates. I put them in the fuge and they buried themselves in my miracle mud. Is this o.k. or will this become a problem?

Not sure how stupid this sounds, but can you use cherrystone and little neck clams from the seafood counter that are on ice. They say they aren't frozen and are fresh, just not in water. They are still closed....

I have an answer to one of the littlenecks. It's alive, so far anyway. 3 more to go and the two Cherry stones haven't moved yet. Was hoping I didn't have to make fish food out of them just yet...

Knock on wood :)notsure: ) for long term survivability
All six are alive. Three of the four little necks have moved to a new location, the last one is still opening and closing, but hasn't moved. The two cherry stones have opened, one turned itself over and the other is working on it.

Update on these - I bought 6 more a couple days later of the cherrystones (2-18 or 2-19).
Total lost 2 littleneck and 4 cherrystones This was over the last month and a half. At least they have had the common courtesy to raise out of the substrate right before croaking. Left are 2 littlenecks and 4 cherrystones. Based on this, I would not recommend them.

they are at least asthetically different. local grocery store sells both cherrystones and littlenecks. cherrystones are a dark brown, littlenecks are gray. not sure about climates or effectiveness though

how did you acclimate them because from going on ice into your tank is a huge swing.
I usually bring them home and throw them in the fridge for an hour or two then put them in a dish of tank water at fridge temp, then after they purge bring them out of the fridge and let them slowly warm to room temp, then I float said container untill it reaches tank temp. then I drop them in. none of mine have died I have five.
