If you mean the Tridacna Clams then actually they filter a whole lot more Nitrate than the Cleaner Clams.

I don't know about Trid clams and others but I know I buy regular old clams from the grocery store when they come off the truck and put them in my aggressive to bury themselves.
They have done wonders for the nitrate problem on my aggressive tank.
I haven't been courageous enough to try it yet on my favorite tank.
