At my LFS they have 10 Crocea clams w/o Metal Halide bulbs. I got one of them that looked nice and put it in my tank, at the top. Under a 250w Metal Halide bulb it has opened up Much more than it did in the store. I feed DT's 2x a week and it's Always open. The Color is 10x better than it was at LFS as well.
FWIW I also have a flame angel in my tank. Hasn't bothered the clam at all. Hit or miss with Flame Angel's though...

Quick question on clams... I have a 250w MH fixture coming in and will probably be getting a crocea clam within a week or two. I'll probably pick an ultra or electric grade animal of around 2-3 inches off of a certain

[hr]
site and have it overnighted to me. As far as acclimating it to light, would it be ok to give it just the 65watt actinics for a few hours... then add the 65w 10K for a few hours... and then finally remove the PCs and do the MH fixture with a little fiberglass shade and then remove that shade, so the whole acclimation process takes around 12 hours?
