My wife recently went to LFS and decided she would love to get a clam. I only have 4 t5HO (75 gallon tank) would this be good enough for any clams? thanks in advance for any advice

Not sure what t4's are. If they are what I think they are probably not -- but a good rule of thumb for lighting is if you have LPS flourishing in your tank you should be fine. Do some research on what to look for in a clam before buying as in health, size, type, how big it will get and what it needs to survive and grow. They really aren't difficult to keep with proper lighting and calcium levels if you start off with a healthy clam around 3" or larger.

Where do you see T4's...he says he has 4 T5's.....
are you working too hard today

OP: Some people on this site keep clams with T5HO lighting...so maybe they will speak up :)

I swear it orginally said t-4's and it was edited. My mind remembers "4 t4s".
I personally would under t-5 lighting.

I should probably add although I would get a clam under this lighting (personally) you have to make sure you get a healthy one. They can take months to die but if you get one that is in poor health there really isn't much luck in reversing it.
Some of the things to look for are gaping, they should be light sensitive (meaning running your hand over the light should make it flinch), mantle extension. Google images or just googling this info shoudl provide pictures of what is good and what's bad. There are also different types such as maxima, crocea, squasmosa and derasa the most popular. They are easy to take care of if you do your research ahead of time.

Right now I think derasa's are my favorite. My derasa has got to be 7-8" now and almost 5" across when it's open. Mine was bigger at 4 - 4 1/2" when I bought him.
I did see a 15" one for sale at the same time for 300 but that was out of my price range :)
29.99 isn't a bad price to add to an order -- maybe a little on the small side at 2" but my maxima was that size when I got it and it's maybe just a hair over 3 now and doing fine.
I personally think the derasa's have the best coloration and grow very fast compared to the others. I want some more clams too but I actually might have to take out live rock soon for my derasa.
If I were making an order yeah I'd get it. I'm done with online orders for hte year in North Dakota as I can't count on the weather lol... and I wish the LFS had something bigger than 2" clams for 60 bucks as well.
