i have a few questions about blue hermits. i have read to stock anywhere from 1/gallon to 1/10 gallons. do they mess with corals at all? what is a good number to stock in your experience?
what about emerald crabs? do they ever mess with corals? i have a 90gal tank with 20 gal refuge/sump. would 5 be a good number to get?
do emeralds or blue legs eat hair algea at all?

Emeralds are supposed to eat hair algae....I like emeralds better than hermits...
If you have hair algae get the 5 emeralds...what do you have for snails....also get some turbos
OHHHH....Sally Light Foot crabs....I have 2...and they never stop eating the stuff...I'm gonna get some more

I have about 200 blue, scarlet and some multi-colored hermits in my 125g reef tank. They don't touch hair algae. A lettuce nudibranch took care of that...then starved
. My emeralds (2) eat the algae between my zoas and shrooms mostly. Never had the emeralds when I had the tiny bit of hair algae. But I did buy some zoas and shrooms with a little hair algae and it was gone in a day or 2. Come to think of it, maybe it was my emeralds.

Ill second that. I don't think mine ever sleeps. All it does is eat. and if I move near it...it eats faster. If I back away, it eats slower. Its a panic eater ^_^

YES, I have corals, all different types, and the sally's have not gone near them...They are supposed to be reef/coral safe

well i dont have any corals yet and i was just wondering. i have read that they are reef safe but i have also read that they arent because when they get larger they will start eating corals and even attacking fish. i was just curious what your experience had been with them.
