Clean up help advice

I just picked up a 92 gal. tank that I plan to set up as a ref tank. The tank was used and it looks like the last owner pumped out all of the water and cleaned nothinng else and just let it dry up so there is salt build up abd crust on the overflow box and tubes. What would be the best thing to use to remove the crust and salt build up and maybe also sanitize the tank before I start to set everything up. Any advice would be helpful.

2/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of vinegar. Apply the solution and let it set for a while.

YUP...Or if it's that bad..you can soak it in bleach.....then rinse and dechlorinate really good

With the tank I also got a couple of pails full of sand in salt water. I don't know how long it has been like that but it doesn't smell bad. Should I dump it and start with new live sand or is there a way to clean it and reuse?

You can reuse it. Just make sure it gets rinsed really well. Take a garden hose and start rinsing in the pail. Put the hose in the sand and turn on the water just enough to get the water to move the sand some and for the water and just to overflow the pail and all of the gunk with it. Do this until the water runs clear. (gonna have to ensure you are moving the hose around some in the pail to get all of the sand moving and th gunk out)
Since it is getting nice out now I would get a tapr and lay the sand out to dry after it is clean.
JMO let's see what others say.
Oh yeah, post some before and after pictures of the tank and the sand if you can. Will help others along the way to see them.

Thanks for the advice. This set up is going to take a little time to complete but I will try to post some pictures.
