i heard that cleaner clams filter out nitrates and ammonia, can i thow a bunch in my fuge or will they die?

They need to be sand/substrate dwellers from what I gather and long term survival is questionable -- which if they died and you didn't know it you'd be adding to your problem... so instead of a bunch, if you want one or two just to have go for it, but there are better filter cleaners.

Why the fuge and not the display? I have 3 in my 225g...I am actually going to buy more this weekend too....and I am adding 1 to my 54G.
