I woke up this morning to a dead cleaner shrimp. my params are as follows:

ph-8.4-8.5

trites-0
trates 0
temp75-77
my tank has been up an running for a little over 2 months now
I hace 2 osc clowns
a torch corral
and some pulsing xenia
Im wondering if maybe he starved to death. Should there have been anything I should have been feeding him. I feed my tank 1/4 cube of frozen marine cuzine which has brine, krill, mysis once a day. I only had him for a week
any thoughts?????

Are you sure he just didnt molt? I know..stupid question...but some people have seen a molt and thought their shrimp died. Shrimp will usually molt fairly soon after being added to a setup.

Did you look at the shell, was it hollow? I think you could tell the difference between the two. The first time mine molted I freaked out but I soon realized what it was. I have 2 cleaners and they have never hidden after they molted.

THe first cleaner shrimp I bought molted immediately after just an hour in my main tank. I thought that I got lucky that I got an extra cleaner until I realize what happened. Actually I was ignorant of the shrimp molting process. But it was sure funny the first time I saw it.

Dead shrimp stink to high heaven
Molt's don't stink...
What species of Cleaner is it and how long have you had it? How did you acclimate it?
I can't see any reason why a shrimp would starve in a new tank. Typically there's plenty of food in new setups.
