Clown spawn

I haven't posted here in a long time. I even had to re-register. Anyway, for those of you that have not seen clowns laying eggs - here are my pair doing their thing. They do this about every 5 to 6 weeks. The pics are somewhat blurry due to the actions of the fish. They trade off laying/fertilizing. Here is a link to a small movie of them. clownspawn.mov Right click and save as if you have trouble.

Fantastic set of pics ijji...gotta be a healthy environment to have them spawning that regular. I'm interested also in the success you've had in keeping any of the fry.
Welcome back...I've been wondering where you'd gotten off to.

awesome video. im going to attempt to breed some true percs. two question when you rear the fry what tank do you have them in and what do you use for filtration? Im thinking im gonna use an old 10 gallon with an air pump powered sponge filter. Also i have old incandescent light for that tank, shold i use it for lighting?

Beautiful Percs, thank you for sharing.
I've found if you target feed them some minced Scallops soaked in Cod liver oil they will breed every 13 days... ;)

thanks for the compliments. jw, nm, bg... nice to still see you old crustaceans swimming around the tank;)
Presently, the clowns are providing food for the other inhabitants of the tank. I have only been able to keep a small number of fry alive for about 14 days. Since they remain in the larval stage for three weeks and have such strigent dietary requirements, I have not been able to keep them much longer than that. It is fascinating to watch the male pluck the fry off the rock and spit them out to meet their destiny:) . I hope to have the proper facilities soon to raise the fry to maturity.
