Clowns mouth looks bleached out?

Have 2 false percs. Had them about 2 months before they finally started hosting an anemone. Once they began it was a love affair. I just noticed today that their mouths on both of them looks bleached out, just around the mouth. Not other discoloration at all, nor on any other fish. Could this have anything to do with them now living in the anemone. They are hosting a Haitian long tip for about 2 weeks now. Thanks guys.

Have you noticed them fighting at all? Mine did the same thing and then I noticed they were attacking each other...One actually bit a piece of the others mouth off....

When they stop fighting (if yours are) it should heal, just watch them close...

it could be stings from the anemone. Condylactus anemones do pack a punch, and they are not a natural host to clown fish. There are many reports of clown fish becoming meals for conndylactus anemones. . There are also reports of clown fish accepting them as a host (*like yours have). The fact is, there are no clowns in the carribean so they are not a natural host

Saw them fighting last night. First time I have seen this. They were in the anemone and going at it. Should I take one out? or will they determine who is boss. It isnt constant. That is only time I have seen it and I work out of home so watch them often.

I left mine alone...they get along most of the time...If they cause damage to each other, you can put one in another tank for a day or two...then put it back and see if that helps...kinda like a time-out. I didn't do that cause I had nowhere to move one, but one moved into a cave (on its own) for 2 days, and now they seem better.
Sometimes even fish need time apart

Do you notice your clowns mouthing the anemone, kind of like biting or sucking on the tentacles? I had one that did this, the clowns lips looked a little lighter for a while but it went away. I'd just think it was a reaction from the anemone as stated by Buehle.
