your mandrin will spend his whole day searching for food. You need a tank at least 75 gallons up for at least 2 years to provide enough of a food source for him. I had a 120 in college that was up for 1 year and my mandrin starved to death in 8 months. keep that in mind
Please heed the advice of fellow hobbiests that have already made the mistake you are considering. A small Mandarin will survive in you tank for a while but it will eventually kill off its food supply and die a slow death of starvation.
