I have two, but no idea if they are a,b or c. They grow great in my 75 gallon with 260 watts PC. I really have to keep a eye on the Ca levels though, they run on the low side.

I'm just a beginner
. I read that Colt was a good beginner coral. Then I tried to research it - good luck!!! Mostly my information came from an article by Elizabeth M. Lukan titled "Colt, Broccoli, Cauliflower Coral" (her only photo is low res).
She says Alcyonium is soft and slimy to the touch with bushy polyps, whereas Nepthea(Capnella), and Lemnalia have a rough texture. But also some Sinularia (aka finger leather or soft finger) is slimy too.
She says Cladiella is now a separate genus and there is still confusion between cladiella and alcyonium.
I believe SWF (this site) sells cladiella and I am sure I would be fine with that as they are so similar anyway.
I just wanted to know what I was getting myself into, and what they're going to have at the LFS as well, since I usually don't order life forms online.
I live in Pawtucket (aka the bucket) :cheer: thanks for the replies.

Cladiella is not an easy coral to keep.
Most leathers however are. The colt and kenya is realy hardy.
From my research Nephthea, Litophyton, Alcyonium, Capnella and Sinularia are mostly easy fingers to try.
Stay away from Dendronephthya and Scleronephthya know as carnations.
Generally, most all leathers will go into a crunching kind of slimmy stage as a natural way that they shed waste and then open back up usally bigger as a way they grow. Often accering every week to a month and take anywhere from a day to a week to open back up. They will sort of do this when disturbed and to some at night. JME

Sinularia is the one of the easiest leathers. I have a Sarcophyton aka toadstool leather, which is different, but really easy too.

Sarcophyton
