concerns about new tank design (need your help)

with a Barracuda you would have a max head of 20'
looking at below drawing even without the fittings calculated in there we get close to that length?
So you think a Barracuda would do?

Ok!!!!! Please clarify something!!!! We are talking about the CL on your system? For every 10ft of horizontal pipe run would be equivalent to 1ft of head pressure.
In a CL your head pressure/friction lose has nothing to do with that. You would calculate your lose only using your fittings.

I hear ya.
So a Barracuda would be well sufficient? or too many fittings?
there must be a reason for asking all those questions right? Have no clue about pressure and how to calculate it???

I do ask a lot of questions at times, and a lot of the time it's to make you think and through thinking about things we sometimes answer our own questions......Sometimes......
I"m assuming a lot when I look at the pics, so again I'm going to take a swing in the dark on the setup......Are you planning on using an OceansMotions 8Way or 4Way. The 4Way split I think you'd get poor flow regardless. I'm quite sure if you talked to Paul he'd advise on that many nozzles you'd want to have multiple OceanMotion units.
My first question is what are you planning on keeping coral wise in the tank if anything other than fish? Personally, and I'm a big fan of big pumps, but I had mentioned a while ago on 1 of your other threads about the tank build and my personal choice of pump to drive the CL would be the Reeflo HammerHead......In the past on a 240 gallon tank I've run the Dart, Barracuda, and the HammerHead all on the OM CL setup with lines coming in from the top and lines buried under the sand.....Barracuda is ok......If you want flow drive the unit with the HammerHead.......
There was some of a discussion again in 1 of your other threads about head loss in the CL......There isn't as much loss as some would think.....I spent a good part of this past Saturday morning talking to Paul the owner of OceansMotions, and we discussed the loss/friction issue, and there is very little loss compared to what others might think.......

Reason of my constant doubt is sometimes my own previous threads as some people say this and others say that?
I do understand that most of the time this hobby is with getting up from mistakes made but the fact me living in Thailand and getting replacement equipment back here is kinda very very hard. My reason being to talk alot and ask more to make sure or at least be 90% sure of what equipment to use.
I send some mails to Paul as well but he rather talks on the phone but I am in the middle of the Pacific Ocean right now so even talking to the right people is tough.
I also send some mails to suppliers of pumps but I have learned to take advise from sales people with a large grain of salt. And even double check on that salt.

It's all good....I do ask a lot of questions myself.....I along with many of people doubt what they think and hear.....Human nature.....That's why I whole heartedly suggested you contact Paul.....He's hard to get a hold of at times, but he makes every effort possible to get you what you need. Well above what most would do.....I'm in and out of a truck all day, so we played phone tag quite a bit, but drop him an email, and if you can pin point a convenient time that your possibly available you guys might hook up for a good lengthy conversation. He will explain the principles of flow vs loss......
I don't take everything a sales guy says or even reps.....Being that you want to utilize his product, it's best to get the information from the horses mouth directly.....He's tested and spent many a many hours getting the most out of his units.....Reeflo is another good example. On my 240 I had a similar situation where I was going to run the sump remotely and wasn't sure on what exactly I needed. The owner, since Sequence/Reeflo are they same, but actually split in 2 companies......He took the time to look at drawings, measurements, and a lengthy discussion we were able to come to a win/win solution to my pump needs.....Shoot both guys emails and when you talk to both share the information from both sides of the table you've gotten.......

Had someone calculate the head of both setups?
They came up with a total head of 7,42' for the closed loop and 8.32' for the return line?
Does that sound correct to you?
So I guess with that head I would be OK with a Barracuda on the closed loop and a Hammerhead on the return line maybe?

OK will place the order today or tomorrow?
So what pump to use?
Hammerhead? enough flow to the last nozzles?
HP1 or Tiger Shark? overkill due to the low total Head?
need advise guys please
