Confused?

I found a quarter in my tank not dog poo but a quarter. I have high nirtates with really nothing in the tank. Would the quarter cause my nitrates to spike.

I would guess no, but could be wrong. May have a little nickle or something though. What is in your tank? how did you cycle? age?

Nope, the Nitrates and the Quarter are unrelated.

Just an FYI, US quarters have contained copper since 1965. Coins should be removed asap.

The Tank is probably 3 weeks old just the sand no live rocks yet. No Fish.

Make sure you get the quarter out and before adding inverts, I'd test for copper.

Im not adding anything for about a month till I get the nitrates under control. I just want to add my live rock today then let the tank cycle for a while.
