Did anyone else watch the MNF game last night??? there were some seriously bogus calls that went in favor of the Patriots...
2 rules in particular...
Only a player on the feild OR the head coach my call a timeout... NOT an assistant coach or a player on the sideline... the refs allowed an assistant to call a timeout that changed the turnout of the game...
next would be a receiver has to demonstrate posession of the ball with 2 feet in before going out of bounds... Gaffney did NOT have posesseion by the NFL's defenition on the game winning TD...

Baltimore is a target for controversial calls this year. First game the play that cost them the tying touchdown against the bengals. Cost them the game. Then the reviewed, non reviewable field goal attempt by the browns(even though it was truly a good kick under the current rules it should have been no good because that is what was intially called) and then the calls against the pats. 3 games lost because of fishy calls

that was Kellen Winslow Jr. for Cleveland... last second hail mary and he was forced out... but the refs said it wasnt a force out...

Those were most definitely bogus calls, people got all huffed up about the PI call for Austin in the Packers game, and the phantom PI in the Ravens game I've heard nothing about.
Patriots coming close to losing to <.500 teams twice in a row? Methinks I see some cracks...

Why would the NFL conspire in favor of New England? They hate them. They had their first round pick taken away in next years draft. Perhaps the NFL dislikes the undefeated Dolphins more. Another undefeated team may shut them up once and for all.

anyone else see wes welker get his shirt practically ripped off his shoulder pads...at least 3 times and get no flags. or how about at the end when asante samuel got pummeled from behind at the very end...if that would have been a touchdown it would have been turned around from offensive pass interference.
there were bogus calls on both sides so dont make this a one sided battle on the patriots because the baltimore coach called a timeout and ruined their victory

the point is that an Assistant Coach CAN NOT call a time out... the ref is supposed to ignore it unless it comes from a player on the field or the HEAD Coach on the sideline...
the block on Samual was legal... i didnt see Welker "practically" get his shirt ripped off at anytime...

I'm not sure about that last touchdown, but I think he did have control over the ball, he was transfering it to his other hands. But I've seen other calls where they ruled the other way...

thats just it... the ball is not supposed to move at all... week in and week out you hear Madden say "any little bobble and its incomplete"...

Madden also had the sweat contest, and would get the cameras to zoom in on the cowboys linemens butts!
Yeah, that was my understanding of the rule too. I think I've seen some of the worst officiating between this game and the cowboy game, They forgot where they marked the ball and had to review that.

RU, do you know where in the NFL rules it states that no assistants can call a time out from the sideline?
I got into this same dispute with a friend of mine and when I went to prove it, I could not find it.

Rule 4, Section 3, Article 3 -
The Referee shall suspend play while the ball is dead and declare a charged team time out upon the request for a time out by the head coach or any player to any official.
It was so infuriating watching that game. The refs give NE so many chances even the Dolphins could have won that game. Not only the timeout and clearly non-catch, but the weakest pass inference call I've seen, to get them down the field.
