Being a Single father myself its not all that easy somtimes you have to take the good with the bad everything will be ok and even out just watch the fish tank and keep the blood pressure down worked for me.!!!

Get a yellow... they are easy to find, hardy, relatively cheap and very cool. And they stay pretty small. To have a ray with an eel you have to be very careful about aquascaping. The ray needs open space and the eel needs rocks.
BTW, why are we arguing about stocking your mom's tank? Is she going to actually do any of the things we're talking about?

Minimum Tank Size: The Blue Dot Stingray prefers a tank of at least 130 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Taeniura lymma is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped crustaceans, fish pieces, shrimp, shellfish, squid.
Level of Care: The Blue Dot Stingray is a high maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Blue Dot Stingray may act peacefully toward other fish. THIS FISH IS VENEMOUS. Severe reactions can occur if allergic. If stung soak injured area in hot water and seek medical attention.
Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).

though as you can see you have the very minimum recomended tank size.. well just over there are others but i can think of any that are small enough right now

id say like a dwarf lion or maybe a valentini puffer.. but that might be pushing it a little bit.. you could also add more to your cleaner crew just for something interesting to have in there.. just a thought

you could get maroon clowns instead they get to 5 inches no dwarf lion could eat that as long as you get them full grown.. theyre really cool clowns
