sorry for the extremely large pic, but i went for quality.
nikon 4500 macro is amazing.
i noticed these guys for the first time today.
did a search and think these are copepods but not sure.

and while we're at it, I found a crab leg today. i think one of my biggest hermit crab is losing his legs. one claw, and another smaller leg ..... do you think he lost them in a battle?

one more question. these air bubbles in the sand - are they anything to worry about?

Yep - Harpacticoid Copepods.
One of your Hermits probably molted.
The bubbles are probably Nitrogen from some denitrification action happening below.

I was starting to think I made this post!
Not only have I been meaning to take a pic of those pods to see what they were, I also wondered what those bubbles were. As for the claw, that would be creepy if I had one of those in my tank, too. huh? Heh.
BTW, those pods remind me of Mr.Plankton from SpongeBob SquarePants.

p.s. I also have a Nikon, but its a CP995. I take large pics, too but I usually just crop the image. Sometimes I zoom in also. This way you can insert the image in the post itself.

Yep, the Spongebob Plankton is a Copepod :) They actually only have one eye.

Ok, did a search on copepods, and mine are all over the glass, with lights on. So I think they are Isopods. Still need to know if they are good or bad:confused: Pic looks exactly like mine.

thanks for the ID!!!!
i still think my hermit crab has been victimized. lost another limb last night, and today, his lifeless carcass is pulled out of his shell, with the smaller crabs pecking into it.
sigh....
