they look like little tiny sand fleas kind of. I go the inlets and grab some grass and shake it in a bucket. With a battery powered air filter I can drive back home..This does feed Mandarin gobies. Most of them prefer this food and many starve in tanks without them....My mandarin is alive and well after 2 years because of this...He does not take brine at all...But I live close to the beach..IF you do not, you can purchase bunches of sea grapes which usually are filled with them.....

not to change the subject but, are amphipods also good for your tank ? and do they serve the same purpose as a copepod ( a food source)? for instance for a manderine ? just wondering.

Amphipods are about half a cm long and are half moon in shape.
They are grey, do not like the light, and are found under and in rocks feeding on ditritus.
