Coralife Super Skimmer help :/

So i've used this skimmer on my 35g tank for about 2-3months, and i just upgraded my tank to a 55g, and i cant seem to get it to work right! The problem is that water is rapidly overflowing into the collection cup. I have the water level setting at the lowest possible, but the bubbles go all the way to the top, and overflow into the cup.
In my manual it says to make sure there is atleast 1 inch clearance between the micro bubble diffuser, and the white foam pad, (which i have). It also says to make sure that the bubble production diffuser is not clogged, blocking water flow. Is this referring to the white foam pad, because i havent changed this pad, and it is really.. i dont know how to describe it, but it seems really warn out, and the material seems to be really dense and thick (i dont know if this is restricting water flow, out of the skimmer, but that is my guess) Can anyone help me out who knows anything about this?

I have the same skimmer, clean out the foam, put it back and play around with how far you put the flexible tube into the foam, also the depth you put the pump in the tank will effect how much water it is taking in, you might have it too shallow. Anyways how are your fish, that was you the other night.

Thanks a bunch for that info! I got it working after a few hours of playing with it... haha.
My fish are doing great! My clown loves all the new swimming space he has, and my yellow wrasse is too! I thought he would bury himself for a long time but he seems happy in his new home. Now i just need some more fish! (Im waiting a bit to ensure that my tank levels are okay though). :D

Here are some pictures of the new set up!

I'm working on getting another 35 pounds of live rock to fill up the rest of my tank. I also need some new fish, any suggestions? All i have is a clown and a yellow wrasse!

Looks really good, good to see everything alive. I have a 65 I have clowns, blue green chromis, coral beauty, LMB, bengaii cardinals, cleaner shrimp, bristle star. They all do great together my CB leave the coral alone. You could also look a flame angels. Let's see what others say, just go slow, what do you have for CUC.

I really like the look of the flame angels, i am for sure going to look into getting one of them for my tank. My clean up crew is kind of lacking right now.. I have 6 turbo snails and 2 urchins. My next trip to the LFS i will be buying 2 emerald crabs, what else would you suggest? I would also like to get a shrimp of some sort, possibly a cleaner shrimp or a fire shrimp. I also like those pepperment shrimps, they look cool, and they are cheap :D

And everytime i buy chromis, they die over night! I swear i've bought at least 8 chromis, and every time they disapear overnight and i never see them again! I love chromis, they look so nice in groups, but i just cant seem to keep them alive, why is that!

Here are some things i like, any suggestions or concerns are apprieciated
Fire Angel
Sally light foot crab
2 emerald crabs
__ Hermits? (how many would you guys suggest)
Peppermint shrimp
Fire Shrimp OR Cleaner Shrimp
2 three stripe damsels? (I know they are aggressive, but i figured it would be okay because clowns are in the damsel family)

FORGET the damsels....they are not okay regardless of the clowns......they will even attack you
get the cleaner instaed of the fire shrimp if you want peps, emerald and sallys are ok
I would not get too many hermits.....they will end up killing your snails...get a couple of scarlets and zebras

+1, Stay away from damsels, love cleaner shrimp, Have look at the cardinals they are neet fish - my two always are together, they are a schooling fish, if I had a bigger tank I would have about 5 of them.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm going to go with the cleaner shrimp :), and cardinals sound cool, they are pretty expensive at my LFS though ... Any other fish recomendations? I want a lively fish that will swim around a lot, like a tang or butterfly, but i doubt i have enough room for them :(

Yes you are right your tank is no nearly big enough for a Tang, butterflies I am not really sure about but they are very hard to take care of. There are other lively fish out there that will do good in your tank have you looked at any of the Wrasses some of them are really beautiful and I think they could go into a 55 gal tank.. There are some of the Fairy Wrasses and some of the Flasher Wrasses that will go into a 55, but stay away from the 6 line I hear they can be mean and Aggressive.

I like the foxfaces because they are not shy fish once they get comfortable. They are out and about and can be pretty interactive fish. Nothing worse that getting that super appealing fish to have it hide in the rockwork rarely to be seen.
