coralline or not?

This sounds stupid, but I have these beautiful LRs that have been in my tank for two weeks (cured for three weeks in a tub). They are starting to be covered with tons of red stuff, some orange "stuff", a little bit of green and a very tiny bit of purple. All of my reading suggests that purple is the most prevalent color of coralline--- so is this good stuff on my rocks or not? (By the way, it's all hard and seems almost one with the rock, i.e., not raised).
Thanks!

looks like coraline to me and its good to have, make sure to keep your alk and calcium levels good and it will spread like wild fire.

Thanks pacopetty -
and, me tooo - my alk test only shows low, normal and high (mine is the high end of normal). I don't have a calcium test as of yet.
Where should it be?

I'd like to know also.
I checked all my readings tonight and everything was good except my PH which was about 7.5, isn't that a little low?

I use those Balance Blocks. They have calcium and 71 trace minerals and buffer the ph to 8.2-8.3. Some may tell you not to use products like these, but IMO..... I love them.
I have a 55 G with LR, fish, and some inverts. I have about 65 lbs of the most beautiful rock, too!
It all depends on how hard you want to work at it too.

450 calcium is what I've been told for kicking Coraline.
And it's doing WONDERS for my tank...
It's less than a month old now... Cycle is finishing up...

BTW klongo nice LR

There are several ways I've seen of doing this. One is a product called aragamilk which seems to have a so-so reputation. Another is b-ionic calcium buffer system which is a 2 part alk/calcium system. I've seen many great reviews of this on here and have recently started dosing so we'll see how it goes. There are other products out there but these are the 2 I've seen mentioned the most.

JNC - I LOVE your rock set up. It's beautiful. I assume that this is your 175g? I'm hoping to move to a bigger tank next year, so I'm scoping out how the bigger tanks look.
