Corals from SWF

Ok boys and girls I received my shipment of corals this morning. I had stated that I was going to start a thread from the time I received the coral to the introduction into my tank. Problem is I was so excited to see the coal that I could not wait to get the camera before I opened the box. Let me just say that the packaging was excellent.
Now on to the coal.
Blue & Orange Rainbow Ricordea a little small but pretty
Chili Coral Nice size and color I can’t wait to see in under moon lights
Elegance Coral. The star of the show. This coral is large about 7” wide a real center piece of any reef tank. The pics are exactly 4min after introduction into my tank. Will continue to post pics through the day.
THANK YOU SWF
An all-around spectacular job

I had mine in a two sided cave, the light danced across it but not on it, so I could see it and water could flow free over it...the thing grew to be too big for the cave. Over 13 inches when it filled all up. My sand sifting goby buried it and choked it...so after that I attached my new one to the top of the cave. The heater incident killed it.
After I get the new sump and refugium all up and going so my nitrates are controlled...I will get me another one...Odd thing..my first one had tiny white stars for polyps and the second had tiny orange stars. I'm curious as to the color of Joe's when it blooms.

This is the coral after 1hr in my tank left side has nice development right side taking a little longer
FYI I can count on one hand how many corals I have recommended to hobbyists on this site BUT I will add this one to the list. If you are starting a reef tank I would recommend you look into this coral as your center piece

I heard the elegance is a hard coral to keep alive...also it gets HUGE when it opens up. How big of a tank are you putting it in?

Actually flower they are considered to be in the mid-range when it comes to care. There are as with all corals certain specific needs, lighting, flow and IMO placement (from the web In the wild, the Elegance Coral lives in both shallow and deeper waters, down to 131 feet (40 m), in areas of gentle turbid water. They have a cone shaped, wedge-like skeletal structure that makes it easy for them to bury into soft substrates. In the ocean, the substrate they like to bury into is soft and often muddy, with sea grasses frequently intertwined with their tentacles.) as I have CC for sub straight I was concerned about it irritating the coral. I have a plastic box which I drilled holes in the bottom. I moved some of the CC around and placed the box in my tank. Then off to the gulf. I walked out to the sand bar (doing the sting ray shuffle) water temp was a cool 73 degrees. Collected some sand brought it home and sifted through it. Back in the tank it went. Now my coral has a nice soft bed to call home.
Tank is a 110

Very nice indeed sir. I also got the word from my LFS that I shouldnt bother buying one due to the difficulty in keeping it. Now with that said he does have the benefit of talking to me and may have wanted to not call me an idiot but rather say the coral was difficult to keep.

Well we shall see. As hobbyists there really is only so much we can do. The rest is up to the coral.
It’s still early in the game but it seems to have nice expansion although the lower right is still lagging

i will post a ric pic later
