Its sounds like your wrasses were dying from reasons other than your hermits.....you should check your parameters.

1. 30c is at the high end but perfectly acceptable for all of the common corals in the hobby. If you're going to keep the temp that high remember that you are on the edge and a further increase may start a bleaching event. I have also seen anecdotal (non-scientific) that temps above 29c increase the likelyhood of RTN in SPS corals.
2. I agree completely with BluTang. I have a feeling that your Wrasses are starving to death and the hermits are just cleaning up the mess.
Only about 1 in 20 Cleaner Wrasses adapt to aquarium life. I believe they should be banned from the hobby until captive bred specimens are available.

Bang Guy,
Is it because they have nothing to "clean off" in an aquarium?

Yep, or more "not enough". Once in a while you can get a Cleaner that will eat frozen food or enriched live brine and they will live a lot longer. Their natural food is plain 'ol fish slime. They need to pick at a LOT of fish to get enough fish slime to survive.
To confound matters most of the larger fish in our aquariums are Tangs. Tangs have almost no slime.
These fish perform a valuable function in the wild and removing them just to die in 3 - 6 months just doesn't make any sense.
